Robert was born in Northern California but was drawn to the beautiful landscape of the Pacific Northwest and moved to Portland to study biology at Concordia University. During and after college, Robert fought forest fires for eight years before moving into the social service sector in 2011. He made the change because he believes in the importance of helping people, and was looking for a way to honor his philosophical and religious beliefs through his work. Before joining the staff at PHFS, Robert worked for Transition Projects and Human Solutions. Robert believes community is one of the most important factors in living a stable life, and appreciates PHFS’ focus on the importance of relationships. In his spare time, Robert loves surfing, hiking, and snow boarding.
