  • Volunteers must be 18 or older. If you are under 18 and would like to volunteer, you may still do so as long your parent or guardian comes with you. We encourage families to volunteer together!

  • If you are a former PHFS client, you are welcome to volunteer! Please wait until six months have passed since you have received services. Current PHFS clients are not eligible volunteer yet.

  • PHFS encourages an ongoing, monthly commitment of at least one shift per month.

Help us live out our values of compassion and human connectedness by volunteering your time. You'll be supporting families experiencing homelessness transform their lives for the better. There are a variety of ways you can plug in on a daily basis!

We just purchased a new headquarters and welcome corporate teams to finish setting it up! Once we open our main building, we will offer trainings for all current and new volunteers so you can become eligible to volunteer on a regular basis!

Help set up our new Lents Shelter!
(one-time Opportunities)

Our eight Goose Hollow families moved to our new shelter space in the Lents neighborhood! With the help and time of many skilled volunteers, we prepared five of the eight apartment units!

If you are a corporate team interested in helping PHFS set up our new shelter, there is more work to be done! We still need to mud, sand, and texture ceilings, prime and paint, install laminate flooring, install updated fixtures, assemble furniture, remove asphalt, and spruce up the landscaping. Contact if you are interested in organizing a volunteer group!

Volunteer at our new Lents Shelter!
(Ongoing basis)

PHFS has been busy developing our new volunteer program for our Lents shelter! We will have many daily opportunities throughout the day. Volunteers will be needed to play with kids, prepare meals, teach classes, work in the community garden, among many other roles.

  • If you are a current volunteer from Goose Hollow, Thirteen Salmon, or the Family Winter Shelter, you have attended an orientation, and have an established volunteer account, the volunteer program staff will contact you for upcoming training options to give you eligibility to volunteer at the new Lents shelter! Training dates are to be determined.

  • If you have volunteered at Goose Hollow as a part of a volunteer group, but do not have your own personal volunteer account, PHFS requires that you attend an orientation and complete an application. Our next orientation is on Thursday, October 18, 6-7pm. Please RSVP below.

  • If you are a new volunteer, welcome! Attending an orientation is the first step in getting started. Our next orientation is on Thursday, October 18, 6-7pm. Please RSVP below.

Due to PHFS' recent move to the Lents neighborhood, we are not currently accepting new volunteers during our interim period before our main building opens. However, you are welcome to get started with the on-boarding steps by attending an orientation!
